How the KP number method works
In Krishnamurti Paddhati's horary (Prashna) system, you think of any whole number from 1 to 249 at the exact moment your question is genuinely on your mind. That number fixes an Ascendant longitude, which seeds a full chart cast for that instant — judged exactly like any other horary chart, by checking the Ascendant's cuspal sub-lord against the houses your question depends on.

What does a horary number mean?
Each number marks one zodiac segment with its own unique sign/nakshatra/star-lord/sub-lord signature. The number you think of fixes the Ascendant for a chart cast at that instant.
Why 249 numbers, not 243 or 250?
243 sub-lord divisions overlaid with 12 sign boundaries produce 249 distinct segments — a sub-division straddling a sign cusp gets split into two numbered rows.
How do I pick a number?
