Will My Savings Grow? KP Astrology for Bank Deposits
Deposits are accumulated wealth rather than gains, which places them on the 2nd cusp.
The question, and what actually decides it
“Whether savings will accumulate” is one of the most common things people bring to an astrologer. In Krishnamurti Paddhati the answer does not come from the sign on a house, from a planet sitting in it, or from an aspect. It comes from a single point: the sub-lord of the 2nd cusp.
SOURCED — Navratnamala 'KP House Grouping': 'To deposit money in bank' 4,2,11,1 (p.75) and 'Gaining wealth, increase bank deposit' 2,6,10,11, gloss: 'Significators of 2,6,10,11 deposited in the sub of significators of 2,6,10,11... If Sbl signifies 5,8,12, money is lost during DBA of 8,12' (p.72). Primary set taken as 2,6,10,11 (the more detailed, twice-repeated grouping); 4 (home/fixed-asset accumulation) kept as supporting from the first variant. Distinct from finance.json (general income/earning) — this is specifically accumulation/safekeeping of money already earned.
That sub-lord is examined for what it signifies. If it signifies the houses that support bank deposit / savings growth, the matter is promised. If it signifies the houses that oppose it, the matter is denied — and no favourable planetary period will bring it about. This promise-first order is the whole discipline of KP, and it is why the same chart can show a strong-looking period and still deliver nothing.
The houses that must agree
For Bank Deposit / Savings Growth, our engine judges the 2nd cuspal sub-lord against these houses — the same rule set it uses to produce a verdict:
- 2nd house — family, accumulated wealth and speech
- 6th house — service, debts, disease, competition and opponents
- 10th house — profession, status, authority and public standing
- 11th house — gains, fulfilment of desire and friends
- 4th house — home, land, vehicles, mother and formal education
- 5th house — children, creativity, speculation and romance
- 8th house — longevity, obstruction, legacies and other people's money
- 12th house — loss, expenditure, distant places, seclusion and liberation
A worked example
Take a chart where the 2nd cuspal sub-lord is a planet that, through its own star lord, signifies houses 2, 6, 10 and 11. Every required house is covered, so the verdict is promised. Only now does timing become a meaningful question: the engine looks for a Vimshottari period whose lords also signify 2, 6, 10 and 11, and reports those windows.
Change one thing — suppose that same sub-lord instead signifies house 5, one of the obstructive houses. Now the verdict flips to denied, and it flips regardless of how favourable the running dasha looks. A practitioner who skipped the promise check and read only the dasha would predict the event confidently and be wrong. This is the single most common failure mode KP is designed to prevent.
A third outcome exists between the two. Where the sub-lord signifies the required houses but is retrograde, or is placed in the star of a retrograde planet, KP reads the matter as promised with delay rather than denied — the event comes, but not on the first indicated window.
Why the house choice matters so much
Notice that this question resolves to the 2nd cusp — family, accumulated wealth and speech. Read the same question from the wrong house and every step downstream is wrong: wrong cusp, wrong sub-lord, wrong significators, wrong timing, wrong verdict. Much of the skill in KP is in classifying the question correctly before any calculation begins, which is why our engine classifies the question first and shows you which cusp it chose.
FAQ
Which house decides bank deposit / savings growth in KP astrology?
The 2nd cusp. Specifically its sub-lord, which is examined for whether it signifies the supporting houses (2, 6, 10 and 11) or the obstructive ones.
Do I need my exact birth time for this?
For a birth chart, yes — cuspal sub-lords change every few minutes, so an inaccurate birth time can flip a verdict. If your birth time is uncertain, a horary reading using a number from 1 to 249 answers the same question without needing birth details at all.
Can a good planetary period make this happen even if it isn't promised?
No. In KP the promise is checked first and the period only times what is already promised. A favourable period over a denied promise produces effort without result, which is one of the main reasons predictions from other methods fail.
